Tasmania Police and Tasmania Fire Service evacuated about 100 people from the Cloudy Bay area during the night.
Roads in the area were closed to all traffic, aside from emergency services and additional police and emergency vehicles which travelled to the island on the first ferry on December 25.
Tasmania Police thanked the community for opening the Alonnah Community Centre to assist the evacuees.
There have been reports of one house and several sheds that were impacted by the fire.
Smoke and ash from the fire may be visible in Greater Hobart and South-Eastern areas of the state.
Anyone still in the Cloudy Bay or Conleys Point area who has not spoken to emergency services should evacuate immediately to Alonnah or make themselves known to the emergency personnel in the area.
The evacuation centre is located at the Alonnah Community Hall, 14 School Road.
