A group of 11 women and nine men graduated on Thursday after completing 28-weeks of training at the Police Academy and three weeks of practical experience in various stations around the state.
Seven of the new recruits will be stationed at Launceston, eight at Hobart, three at Devonport and two at Burnie.
Among the new graduates was Olivia Davies, 40, who was awarded dux of her cohort and 40-year-old Gareth Auker was the runner up.
Tasmania Police Commissioner Darren Hine said each member had worked extremely hard to complete what was a demanding training program.
“They should all be very proud of what they have achieved,” he said.
“We hope that they enjoy long and fulfilling careers dedicated to the Tasmanian community.
“The career of a police officer is rewarding and varied, and we wish our new graduates well as they forge their own paths within the service.”
The new recruits will start serving and protecting their communities from next week.
Police Minister Michael Ferguson congratulated the Constables for their efforts.
Mr Ferguson said the state government was committed to investing in, and supporting, police by recruiting additional officers.
Applications for the August 2019 police recruitment course are open. Information about the recruitment process is available at recruitment.police.tas.gov.au.
