A COLLECTION OF NORTHERN ARTISTS: Works by Yvonne Correlje, Luke Harvey, Carol Barnett, Carlton Cox, Mary-Ann Orchard, Paul Becker, Sharon Davidson, Muriel Sluce, Alison Cooper-White, Joyce de Ruyter, Pieter Zaadstra are on display at Woolmers. The exhibition is open from 10am to 3pm daily, until August 31

MATERIAL MEMORIES: Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery bringing together six interdisciplinary practitioners who are interested in creating work which sits at the interstices between art/craft/and design: Susan Buchanan contemporary artist/jeweler, Janine Combes contemporary artist/jeweler; Penelope Davis contemporary artist working with photography and sculptural installation; Eli Giannini contemporary artist/jeweler; Robyn Pelan contemporary artist working with ceramics and Sarah Stubbs artist/contemporary jeweller. Running until September 20. 

SLIPPERY SLOPE: A collection of paintings created over a finite 30 day period and continuing artist Alizon Gray’s focus on making works within pre-defined constrains. Running until August 25 at Sawtooth ARI, 160 Cimitiere Street, Launceston. 


MOFO SESSIONS: Design Tasmania is hosting a ‘mystery session’ as part of MONA FOMA (Museum of Old and New Art: Festival of Music and Art). The only clue is, “A classical musician, a jazz musician and a traditional musician walk into a gallery.” Sunday, August 12, at 2pm, cnr Brisbane and Tamar Streets, free admission. 

BOLLYWOOD: Learn Bollywood dancing every Monday at the Launceston PCYC, 146 Abbott Street, Newstead. $12 members, $15 non-members, 4pm and 5pm.  

SUPERSTARS: Launceston College will perform Jesus Christ Superstar at the Princess Theatre in August. Jesus Christ Superstar follows the last week in the life of Jesus and is loosely told through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Five shows will be performed from August 8-11. Tickets available via www.

LOCAL WRITERS: Stories bookshop is hosting Tasmanian writers throughout the day today as part of national Love Your Bookshop day. Children’s 10am – 11.15am, Non-fiction 11.30am – 1.45pm, Fiction 1.45 – 2.45, Wrap-up 3pm – 4pm, whole day free admission. Ask questions, get advice, and browse some great local literature. 75 St John Street, Launceston.
