She will officially launch her campaign on August 1.
“I have decided to make this official announcement at this time, to provide our community with certainty and clarity about my intentions for the election,” she said. “I believe the community need and deserve stable, strong, experienced and energetic leadership.”
Alderman Finlay was mayor between 2002 and 2005 and was the youngest female mayor in Australian history.
In 2007, she resigned from the council to pursue other interests. She was reelected in 2014.
