The $425,000 project aims to make the area safer for patrons, City of Launceston mayor Albert van Zetten said.
“It’s very important when we have large crowds, like we hope to have [Saturday] night, coming through that it is easy and convenient as possible,” he said.
“We know there are times when the big games are on that there is a queue up at the main entrances and it means people are lining up along the street and we want to avoid that as much as possible.”
The new gates were jointly funded by the council and the federal government.
Liberal Senator David Bushby said it was fantastic to see the gates completed.
“The unveiling of this gate is reflective of the Federal Liberal government’s commitment to further growing Northern Tasmania as an attractive destination,” he said.
The project first started in 2016.
