The Premier’s chief of staff of eight years, Brad Stansfield, has left the building and deputy chief of staff Vince Taskunas has skipped across to the Deputy Premier’s office to be his principal adviser on infrastructure.
Head of communications Vanessa Field will be the Premier’s acting-chief of staff while the position is advertised for recruitment, supported by senior media adviser Brad Nowland.
As of last October, there were 70 adviser roles in state minister offices with 15 of them under Premier Will Hodgman.
There were nine roles within the Department of Premier and Cabinet’s communication unit.
The Premier’s chief of staff position pays between $238,014 and $275,000 while the deputy role pays between $216,375 and $238,013.
Minister’s chiefs of staff can earn anywhere between $179,690 and $238,013.
Payment for media adviser roles falls between $75,502 and $97,752.
The Premier’s press secretary earns between $179,690 and $216,374 while the director of communications earns between $148,869 and $179,689.
Former television journalist Alex Johnston has left from the Opposition’s media team.
Former print journalist and government media adviser, Michael Stedman, remains Opposition Leader Rebecca White’s chief of staff.
