Tasmanian Independent Retailers chief executive officer and IGA store representative Grant Hinchcliffe made a donation to a range of charities that are helping those doing it tough during the holiday season.
Mr Hinchcliffe thanked the charity representatives for all of their hard work.
“We’ve got it pretty good here,” Mr Hinchcliffe said, “But a lot of people need help.”
Mr Hinchcliffe said IGA had been organising their annual Charity Relief program for nine years, and had raised around $495,000 for charities in the state.
This year, IGA will provide $50,000 in gift cards to charities around the state, such as St Vincent de Paul, City Mission, the Salvation Army, and Anglicare. IGA are also donating $5000 to Launceston Legacy.
“We’re very proud of the support we’re able to offer,” Mr Hinchcliffe said.
“There is a lot of hardship out there in our country. As a community, we need to come together,” he said.
