While there will be a temporary reprieve from 30 degree-plus days after Saturday, the mercury is set to rise by the end of next week.
Bureau of Meteorology Tasmania senior forecaster Glen Perrin said the heat, high moisture content and rising air would make prime conditions for thunderstorms across parts of the state during the weekend.
Isolated showers would arrive with the thunderstorms, which were most likely to hit in the afternoon and evening, he said.
November looked set for some record-breaking temperatures, he said.
The week’s high temperatures were caused by a high pressure system, bringing a warm north-easterly air flow, which meandered across the state before reaching New Zealand, Mr Perrin said.
He predicted Launceston will reach 31 degrees on Saturday before a slightly cooler maximum temperature of 26 on Sunday and Monday.
