“It is a great day to be Treasurer,” Peter Gutwein declared after the release of the Sensis Business Index.
The release of the September results shows that small and medium-sized Tasmanian business confidence is up eight points from the previous month to 50 – four points above the national average.
“Confidence is on the up, we are well above the national average,” Mr Gutwein said.
He said different businesses would be optimistic for different reasons.
“Across the board, it’s a great story for Tasmania,” he said.
Staff at Employsure speak to about 50 businesses each week across the state.
The company’s business development manager, Lucas Saunders, said the majority were looking to expand.
“Whether it be a tradie looking to put on his first apprentice, a family business looking to step up to ten or 15 staff – these businesses are looking to grow their businesses to meet that demand,” he said.
The Sensis outlook also found the Tasmanian Government was the most popular in the nation, increasing seven points to 16.
