Tasmania’s agricultural industry welcomed 15 additional leaders to its fold on Friday when the Agriskills Project’s Future Leaders Program participants graduated.

Starting in May this year, the project was managed by Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association with support from the state government.
Macquarie Franklin and Shaping Change designed and delivered the program to build participants’ people management and communication skills, project officer Sally Murfet said.
“The program was about participants learning about themselves and how to communicate with, lead and manage others,” Ms Murfet said.
“When we looked at the calibre of the applications I thought they’d be good leaders already, but they’d decided to put themselves forward,” she said.
Graduate Emma Boon from Mount Vernon Pastoral said the program involved a lot of self reflection.
“It was about having an awareness of self and how that can impact on other people,” Ms Boon said.
“Having the skills at the beginning of my career will set me on a better path to make better decisions,” she said.
Governor Kate Warner and Primary Industries and Water minister Jeremy Rockcliff presented the graduates with certificates.
