The recommended is “significantly different from the proposal of the Redistribution Committee” and as such requires further input from members of the community.
The proposal would see the entirety of the Meander Valley municipality moved into Lyons, while Dorset and Flinders would stay in the division of Bass.
The commission’s presiding member Dennis Cowdroy thanked the individuals and organisations who had contributed to the redistribution process so far.
“After thorough consideration of written submissions and inquiry testimony, the augmented Electoral Commission has modified the redistribution proposed by the Redistribution Committee for Tasmania,” Mr Cowdroy said.
Denison will also be renamed to ‘Clark’, to recognise the contribution to Tasmania made by Andrew Inglis Clark.
