Remembered as a community man who loved to help others, Mr Cuthbertson was farewelled during a service in Launceston on Monday.
The chapel overflowed with people wanting to pay their respects to the 79-year-old, who died after a tragic accident at his home last week.
Wayne Cuthbertson shared a heartfelt tribute to his dad, who he described as a hard-worker who never raised his voice and always had time for his family.
“Dad did nothing really extraordinary with his life, but he was an extraordinary person,” he said.
”When he wasn't working he spent time with family.”
A man of many hobbies, Mr (Kevin) Cuthbertson enjoyed old time dancing, fishing, football, cricket and trips in the caravan with his wife, Gwen.
He was working on the couple’s van ahead of their next adventure when he passed away.
His family recalled fond memories of him and how he was always doing something – if he wasn’t fixing fences, cutting wood or shearing sheep, he was helping his loved ones.
RELATED STORIES:
He was a father-of-three, a grandfather, a great-grandfather and a husband for 56 years.
“He fit so much into his nearly 80 years,” Mr (Wayne) Cuthbertson said.
“He should have had a sign on his car that said volunteer handy man service because that’s what he did.”
Acknowledging his dad’s passion for giving back, Mr (Wayne) Cuthbertson said “community was everything to him”.
He was a volunteer firefighter, a member of the Rosevale Hall memorial committee for 55 years and supported both the Red Cross and Heartbeat Tasmania.
“Dad didn’t do things for praise or pats on the back, dad just did good things his whole life because that’s just what dad did,” Mr (Wayne) Cuthbertson said.
“I know the only thing that dad would worry about would be mum but ‘don’t worry old boy we’ve got that covered’ – rest in peace.”
In lieu of flowers, the family accepted donations for the Heart Foundation of Tasmania.
