Tasmania Police confirmed an earlier report of an altercation between two men near the casino is not related to the 78-year-old’s death, which was confirmed on Wednesday.
“Hobart CIB has investigated a report of an altercation between the man and another person – we can now confirm the report of an altercation and the man’s death are not connected,” Hobart CIB detective-inspector Ian Whish-Wilson said.
The elderly was found dead on a walking track in the Nutgrove area on Wednesday morning.
“The man died of natural causes and a report will be prepared for the coroner,” det-insp Whish-Wilson said.
