Targa Tasmania is just around the corner, and five-time winner John White met with the Mates4Mates team in Launceston on Friday to discuss tactics.
Mates4Mates is a support organisation for veterans and serving ADF members and their families.
Vietnam veteran Kim Ewart is driving a Datsun 280Z Scarab for the Mates4Mates team.
“I’m looking forward to finishing and I’m excited to drive that sort of car on the open roads and at speed,” he said.
Mr Ewart said organisations like Mates4Mates were important for returning servicemen. “These sorts of organisations weren’t around when we came back from war.”
John White, who is also an ex-serviceman, is driving a 934 Dodge Viper in Targa Tasmania this year.
“Targa’s all about preparation, planning and handling the challenge every minute the competition presents.”
