The first fire was reported in King Billy Crescent about 12.30am on Monday before a second blaze about 7am.
A TFS spokeswoman said during the second incident, officers arrived and found a two-door Datsun ute “extremely well alight” on a vacant block – metres from homes.
The ute was one of three burnt out vehicles found dumped on the one block.
A Rocherlea resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said it wasn’t just happening in one street.
“It’s happening all the time in Rocherlea,” they said.
“In nearly every street these days you find multiple burnt out cars and see people hooning around. The cars just sit there as well and then more are set on fire.”
The Communities for Children Rocherlea Community Committee submitted a petition to the City of Launceston and Tasmania Police last month, calling for surveillance cameras and stating residents were fed up with “criminal behaviour” in the area.
Tasmania Fire Service said Tasmania Police would have been notified about Monday’s car fires, however police said they were not aware of the incidents.
