Kooee! All Natural Snacks, based in Legana, produced 13,000 bags of jerky, which was about one tonne of meat, in two weeks for the first order.
“That’s what we can do but we’re still growing,” company founder Andy Fist said.
The product was also sold at independent grocers around the country, and Mr Fist had big plans for the future. “We’ve got big growth aspirations for this year. We’d like to get into one of the major supermarkets in Tasmania. We’d also love to get into airports across the country.”
The jerky was made from grass-fed Tasmanian beef and free from artificial flavors or added sugar.
Because of the increase in production, Mr Fist said he needed to increase the workforce.
“We need to hire people, and we needed to hire them probably last month. Currently we have about four people doing the job of six people, so I need resumes - we’re hiring.”
