A ballet dancer has pirouette her way into a six-week placement that no other Tasmanian has ever been offered.
Dayla Bowman, 12, will fly to the US in June to participate in a workshop with the Bolshoi Dance Academy Intensive Program, specifically designed to increase individual progress.
Dayla said she was really excited and grateful for the opportunity.
“I’ll get expert training from all over the world, I really think it’ll take my ballet to the next step,” she said. “I’ll get to learn a little bit of Russian, because they all speak it.”
Her dance teacher of 10 years, Rebecca Gurr, of Dance Pointe, said the opportunity was “richly deserved”.
“Dayla is not only a talented dancer but she is extremely dedicated and hardworking,” she said.
Dayla’s whole family, including her two brothers, will fly to the US for part of her placement. Her dad, Stuart, said the family was really proud.
“I thank Rebecca for all of what she has taught Dayla over the years,” he said.
