Now in its 10th year, a crowd of 5000 is expected to flock to the nine-day event, spanning two weekends of twelve different fun-filled activities, including running, riding, golfing, fishing and feasting.
Festival director Lynden Russell said a number of students were involved in organising the events.
“The focus is on getting young people active, getting them involved in running events but also a lot of fun and participating,” he said.
Launceston College student and Derby River Derby events coordinator Callum Bensemann said the most exciting part of the prominent 40-year-old race was rafting through the picturesque river.
The North East Rivers Festival runs from Friday, October 14 to Sunday, October 23.
