The Nick Xenophon Team has targeted the Launceston Airport in a series of election advertisements, criticising it for not paying rates to the council and charging too much for parking.

It comes as the Coalition continues a scare campaign against minor parties, urging voters to choose “strong majority government”.
Nick Xenophon Team Senate candidate Michelle Hoult said the party was focusing on the airport because “no one else is standing up for the issue”.
“The people of Northern Tasmania are not getting a fair go and that’s why we want to raise the issue," she said.
“It’s that typical David versus Goliath – big guys treading on the little guys who have no one to stand up for them.”
The advertisements criticise the airport for charging $6 per hour for short term parking, and say it could be illegal.
Ms Hoult said the party also had a focus on “predatory gambling”.
“I want to see the 2010 Productivity Commission harm minimisation recommendations implemented,” she said.
“Once that’s done I would move to get poker machines out of pubs and clubs.”
The Liberals have targeted independent Senator Jacqui Lambie, claiming she has preferenced the Greens by suggesting voters should put the Liberals last.
State director Sam McQuestin said Senator Lambie had changed her how-to-vote cards after he tweeted that she was preferencing the Greens.
“By definition, putting the Liberals last preferences the Greens ahead of the Liberals,” Mr McQuestin said.
“Ms Lambie must explain why her how-to-vote card changed.”
Senator Lambie said it was a sign of political desperation.
“Mr [Prime Minister Malcolm] Turnbull knows as well as I do that an open Senate ticket means that it is now legally impossible for me to direct anyones voting preferences to any other political party,” Senator Lambie said.
