Tasmania’s 100 Things to do Before you Die sorted through the state’s most-loved attractions and judged walking the Overland Track as the number one Tasmanian experience.
While the usual favourites made their way onto the list, some often forgotten experiences were recognised.
The top 10 positions were also made up of Wineglass Bay and Freycinet National Park, the Dove Lake Track, the Port Arthur Historic Site, Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, MONA, Bruny Island, Mount Field National Park, Binalong Bay, and the Cataract Gorge.
Other attractions included eating a curried scallop pie, witnessing the Aurora Australis, playing a round of golf at Barnbougle Dunes and seeing a show at the Theatre Royal.
The Experience Oz list was put together after many years of customer feedback and database polling.
Experience Oz digital manager Matt Hobbs said the list promoted Tasmania and its unique experiences to the local, regional and domestic tourism market.
“Experiences on the list vary in location from coast to inland, gourmet to adrenaline-filled, which seems an appropriate reflection of our country's, and specifically Tasmania’s, diversity,” Mr Hobbs said.
“Australia is the land of the green behind the gold and we want to show people – particularly those from abroad – everything our country has to offer including what often doesn't make the big international commercials.”
