Models from Melbourne and Launceston’s Sue Rees Modelling and Deportment Academy hit the catwalk dressed in clothing from East Launceston shop Cloth, Launceston businesses Sharee Marshall and Judy’s Body Fashion and Tasmanian artist Jan Dineen.
Fashion guru Christopher Horne, who choreographed the event, said the strong crowd at the parade was testament to the textile.
‘‘It’s because of its trueness – Australia was born on the sheep’s back and it’s what’s happening in the country now as far as the fabulous textures in fashion, the looks in fashion and the reality of colour is obviously very important,’’ he said.
‘Mr Horne said attendees at the fashion parade likely picked up a few pointers.
‘‘A lot of people I find become a bit forgetful about their wardrobe and the really interesting thing is if you’ve got a really beautiful jacket, a fabulous pair of pants and a skirt you can inter-coordinate really, really well, so it’s a bit of a lesson as well.’’
