John Mansell, 71, died after his 2009 Porsche left the road and hit a tree at Exton on the morning of April 17, 2013.
His navigator Tristan Catford was seriously injured.
David Barclay, counsel assisting Coroner Simon Cooper, told the inquest on Monday that Mr Mansell's car navigated an unmarked crest at 200 kilometres per hour before the fatal crash.
Mr Barclay said there was alcohol in Mr Mansell's blood and no speed limiting device, which permitted him to travel at a high speed.
He said the inquest would examine issues including how the crash occurred, what safety procedures were in place at the time and if appropriate, possible recommendations into preventing future deaths.
Mr Barclay said he expected to call 10 witnesses and proposed 10 areas of inquiry.
