Selected from the portfolios of Tasmanian Certificate of Education students, the statewide exhibition is the culmination of the hundreds of hours of work students have done throughout the year.
Painting, sculpture, photography and film pieces have all been professionally exhibited at Launceston’s Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery.
St Patrick’s College student Amelia Crothers, 18, won The Examiner’s Choice Award for her work titled Singularity.
‘‘I’m really interested in art evolution and technology,’’ Ms Crothers said.
‘‘It’s about the moment when humans and technology become one.’’
Taking inspiration from international artists, Ms Crothers’ work included paintings and an animation of more than 1000 images that changed every 0.3 seconds.
‘‘It took a while but it was worth it in the end,’’ she said.
‘‘I’m really happy that it turned out well.’’
When she found out she won the award, Ms Crothers said she was ecstatic.
‘‘It’s such a privilege, I would have been happy to be selected to go into the gallery space but to win The Examiner’s Choice Award is even better.’’
Ms Crothers will take a break from art next year as she has been accepted into Canberra’s Australian Defence Force Academy but said she would continue with art in her spare time.
ArtRage opens on Sunday and will continue until April.
