The Department of Premier and Cabinet community sport recreation Tasmania employee has been announced as the Northern Migrant Resource Centre chief executive.
Ms Dixon replaces John Brown, who has returned to Break O'Day Council as its general manager.
Born in the Philippines, Ms Dixon came to Australia as a child migrant in 1981 - moving from the metropolis that is Manila with a population of about 25 million to Smithton with 5500.
Ms Dixon said she was looking forward to starting in the role in January and would focus her efforts on four key areas.
These include delivering on the not-for-profit organisation's strategic plan, diversify its funding, investigating social enterprise ideas and polishing the image of the centre.
Ms Dixon also previously worked at Circular Head and Launceston City councils.
The centre's chairwoman Jane Douglas said Ms Dixon brought a wealth of experience to the role with a background in private enterprise, community development, the not-for-profit sector and local and state government agencies.
