POLICE are searching for a 48-year-old Launceston man missing in bushland near Bakers Point in the Narawntapu National Park.
John Norrish has an acquired brain injury, and was camping with friends when he disappeared while they were absent from the campsite. He was reported missing at approximately 12.30 pm yesterday afternoon.
He is described as 165 cm tall, with a thin build, greying hair and a grey beard. He walks with a limp.
Police have requested members of the public in the area of the national park to Greens Beach and Beaconsfield to be on the lookout for Mr Norrish.
The search has so far utilised ATV's, walking parties from Police Search and Rescue. The Westpac Helicopter was mobilised at 6.45 am.
A spokesman for the SES said they would focus on the area near the campsite initially.
''We're hopeful we will find him today,'' he said.
The ground search resumed at 8 am today, and will involve about 30 State Emergency Service members and Surf Lifesavers as well as groups mentioned above.
