Mr Williams passed away at home in St Helens on Wednesday, aged 80.
He first visited Ben Lomond in the 1960s, after moving to Tasmania from the UK via South Africa.
Alpine Enterprises installed the first tows on the mountain in 1973.
Ben Lomond committee president Tony Gray yesterday paid tribute to Mr Williams, saying everyone knew Mr Williams and his contribution to the mountain.
Mr Gray passed on his condolences to Mr Williams's daughter Kate.
Former Ben Lomond committee president Barrie McIndoe worked under Mr Williams for about 14 ski seasons and said he was like a second father to many patrons.
"My children and lots of other children would have been brought into families that were involved with the mountain, they affectionately called him Papa Snow," Mr McIndoe said.
"On behalf of the Ben Lomond committee and the mountain community, he certainly going to be missed, we're all better off for having had him and his endeavours in our lives."
Mr Williams is survived by his children Kate and David.
