The man, who cannot be identified, slept at the victim's home after attending a school reunion with her father in October 2012.
During the course of the night he got in to the 15-year-old's bed and digitally raped her.
He left and returned naked asking the girl to sleep with him, which she refused.
In a police interview the 36 -year-old admitted he had cuddled and kissed the girl but lied and blamed her.
Once charged he pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault and three counts of aggravated sexual assault.
``This is a serious case of sexual assault. Having indecently assaulted her, and having apologised, he then resumed molesting the complainant. He got into her bed when she was asleep and vulnerable, with no adult present to protect her,'' Justice Helen Wood said in Hobart's Supreme Court.
She ordered he serve two years and three months' imprisonment.
