Can we Really Change?
Leadership training for youth is needed for the next generation to take on change and to be confident to take on these issues.
Create safe spaces between different groups. Generate community leaders. Plenty of business leaders and sporting leaders - We need community leaders. Building credibility and status of community pathways.
Informed civic debate. Its time for us to step up in society. We need to breakdown our silos and start conversations with those that are opposed to
Were always changing. The question is just to what? The debate is we absolutely have to change, we just don't know in what direction. Film, activism, compromise we need a perfect mix to achieve this. Talk to people to understand perspectives, accommodate them, change value sets, reinterpret idea/ls. Shift perspectives and become advocates. It starts with respectful conversations and founded in the fact that were all humans and sharing the same space. Complicating factor is money and agenda.
We change and individuals and communities every day. We need to recognise the different levels and speeds of change. We need a willingness to change ourselves. How would I feel if this was me? Need to put enough importance on the nature of our society, about the fair go.
Tasmania Renewed
Renew Australia already has a process set up to transform downtown business districts with empty shops. This model could be used to support Launceston either through a local group or with direct involvement to talk to property owners about offering empty shops to pop up store-holders at no rent to use until the property is rented out.
StartUp and the Catalyst Project (Digital Hub) are two initiative already doing many of the recommended things. Sign up with them or talk to them.
The Tasmanian Innovations Exchange is about telling stories about Tasmanian innovation and needs content so they can promote the story and the organisations involved
Education - we need to directly involve secondary schools and young people in the Renew Launceston projects, by asking people what they want to DO, not what they want.
Detailed micro-study on innovation and success in Tasmania is needed.
When I Walk
Pooling resources with other agencies. As money is tight we could look to joining up with other agencies who require similar resources. Having a neurologist available in Launceston so sufferers don't have to travel to Hobart, a dedicated physio, technologies for gait analysis along with further research into how we can use this information.
Sharing this film as an education tool. Convincing other states within the MS society to see this film and spread the word. Contact the film maker to pitch this film to the acquisition departments of Australian broadcasting networks. Along with lobbying broadcasting networks to show these types of films to the wider public.
Continue Research. Continue to research MS and take over projects throughout generational change and researching new areas of treatment such as diet.
Mapping Accessible Facilities. Working with the local council to define the diverse needs of different disabilities and what they require when accessing a building/restaurant/facility. And then documenting, mapping and distributing relevant up to date.

Education for family and normalising aged care within society. By doing this the guilt families feel about putting their loved on in a home will be eased and the act of visiting a friends and family will be a normal part of life.
Miss the person that was but embrace the person that is.
Discovering someone's life story helps us to see the whole person. Building greater respect, understand and admiration.
Community, building relationships with carers. Carers are around your loved one 24/7 so by building relationships with them we make have more insight into the day to day lives of our families and friends in care.
