The Longford Mitre 10 hardware store was burgled early this morning, with at least four rifles stolen.
Police say that thieves broke into the store by smashing a hole in the rear wall of the building.
No other property was stolen.
In a second incident, residents of a Youngtown residence returned home yesterday afternoon to discover that their shed had been broken into.
Police say that the gun safe of the Poplar Parade property had been forced open and six rifles and a quantity of ammunition was stolen.
In both incidents, police say that the firearms were stored correctly.
Police ask that anyone with information about the thefts or anyone who say anything suspicious near the Longford Mitre 10 store about 5am this morning or in Poplar Parade between 3pm on Sunday and 3pm yesterday is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
