A Tasmanian police officer has pleaded guilty to a count of causing death by dangerous driving when he appeared in the Supreme Court in Launceston this morning.

Aaron Tasman Bonner pleaded not guilty to manslaughter of Anthony Robert Campbell on January 6, 2020 in Paterson Street, but guilty to the alternative charge.
Bonner also pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to Denise Marie Campbell in the same incident.
However, he pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving on January 6, 2020.
Crown prosecutor Emily Stone said the state accepted the pleas to the lesser charges.
A sentencing hearing was set for May 6 at 10am.
Ms Stone said the family of Mr and Mrs Campbell would travel from interstate for the hearing.
Mr Bonner pleaded guilty to driving in a manner dangerous to the public.
