Both yet to play a match at the highest level, the Southern pair had contrasting 2021 seasons.
Drafted from the 2020 rookie draft, North Hobart's Walker almost broke through for a senior debut, while next generation academy member McGuinness battled injury.
North Melbourne football general manager and fellow Tasmanian Brady Rawlings spoke highly of the duo.
"Pat was really starting to hit is his stride in the back-end of the season in the VFL and was very close to an opportunity at AFL level," Rawlings said.
"He is an elite kick and reads the play really well. We feel with another pre-season under his belt, he will be able to reach new heights next year."
Drafted through the academy in the 2019 rookie draft, Lauderdale product McGuinness could play at either end of the ground given the opportunity.
"Matt has shown continuous improvement," Rawlings said.
"Unfortunately for him, he's also endured a couple of injury setbacks, but we look forward to continuing to work with him next season."
The pair strengthens the Roos' bond with Tasmania, announcing on Thursday that North Melbourne's partnership will run for another year.
