Intrastate rivalry will be in full swing on Thursday night as the North battles the North-West for the Hingston-Young cup.
Heading into its fifth installment, the event celebrates the commitments of the Hingston and Young families from the North-West and the North respectively.
Described as "a highlight on the calendar" by North-West captain and Badminton Tasmania president Brent Munday, the tournament kicks off at 7.30pm at the Ulverstone Sports and Leisure Centre.
"It's very rare that we get the opportunity to play and represent either our state or association in such a great way," he said.
"To add onto it, it prolongs the memory of the families that have been involved and were involved with our sport for a long period of time and got us to where we are today."
Since the North Western Badminton Association took out the first year of the tournament in 2017, the cup has changed hands each year, adding to the mystique of the event.
"It's fantastic, talking amongst our group and to a few of the Launnie boys, that there's that real sense of meaning to the actual match itself, that it's not just a social hit - there's a little bit underlined that each association wants to put their best foot forward."
As Thursday night approaches, there's even more on the line for the hosts - redemption.
Heading into last year's final round, the North-West side only needed one match win to retain the cup but the Northern side had other ideas, storming home to win for a second time.
"It made it a memorable moment and it's something that we've talked about, that year that the North finished winning the last six to take home the cup and us losing the last six to lose it.
"It's one of those moments that will be discussed and debated and pulled apart as to where we went wrong.
"Hopefully this year we can get ourselves in the same position and get a win."
