The legacy of two of Tasmanian badminton's storied families will be remembered on Thursday night as the North and North-West battle for Hingston-Young Cup.

Heading into the fourth year of competition, the NWBA have triumphed twice with wins in 2017 and 2019 with the North hungry to reclaim the title they won in 2018 as the event heads to the North-West Coast for the first time.
Badminton Tasmania president and North West Thunder team captain Brent Munday said the venue change will make for an exciting match-up.
"Although everyone loves a road trip, it's nice to be playing back on our home courts and also have the North come up and experience a bit of a different stadium for the Hingston-Young Cup," he said.
"The thing that makes it exciting is that each association puts a bit on it and there's a bit of pride at stake.
"As well as honouring the memory of both the Hingston and Young families, there's a bit on it to walk away with the victory and anytime you put something up for grabs, levels lift a bit."
The Ulverstone Sports Centre will play host to the event that sees 27 rubbers played - 21 doubles and six singles - to see which Northern association walks away victorious.

North-West badminton stalwart Jean Hingston was a player and administrator of the sport for decades while her son Des entered his 40th year as an active member of the NWBA's Coastal competition this season.
On the Northern side, the memories of Leon and Beverly Young are remembered, with son Darren - who will be in attendance alongside Des - having won eight Northern championships and multiple Australian titles.
NTBA president Rodney Lockett shared Munday's view that it should be a close encounter.
"For several of our players it will be their first competitive hits of the season after our Northern roster was wiped out due to COVID-19," he said.
"But in saying that, our squad of University of Tasmania players have been playing non-stop and can really hit the shuttle on their day while several of our guys were in the Coastal roster's winning side.
"Travelling to the Coast should make it interesting but it will be a great night as always, so hopefully we can come away with a win."
