Shot putter Todd Hodgetts and runner Deon Kenzie are familiar international teammates having both medalled at the 2016 Paralympics and competed together at four world championships.
Both have qualified for the Tokyo Games and were avid viewers of the Olympic program earlier this month.
"I reckon I'll take six towels and some chalk blocks because from what I could see it's going to be quite hot and the shot putters were slipping a bit," Hodgetts said.
"I want to make sure I grip it hard and don't lose it."
Kenzie meanwhile was gripped by the performance of King Islander Stewart McSweyn over the same 1500-metre distance he will contest.
"It was great to see a fellow Tasmanian take it up to the best athletes in the world," he said.
"It was the first time we had two Aussies in the 1500m final since 1956 and to have one from Tasmania was remarkable. I'm super proud of him and he did Tassie proud.
"I see Stewy a lot around the Australian circuit during the year and when he comes down to the carnivals. I've been fortunate to spend a bit of time with him.
"It was fantastic to see so many Australian athletes do so well. It was one of our most successful Olympics ever and I was so inspired to see the Australians mix it with the world's best and just to see all the other countries unite after what's been going on in the world. It allowed people the platform to express themselves."
Launceston-born, Melbourne-based Hodgetts, 33, was unable to attend a pre-Games camp in Cairns due to border restrictions so flew direct to Tokyo on Friday.
Devonport-born, Canberra-based Kenzie, 25, will remain in Cairns until Friday as he is not due to compete in the T38 1500m (athletes with cerebral palsy) until Friday and Saturday (September 3-4).
"I'm using it as heat training block and acclimatising before heading on to Tokyo. We thought it was better to stay in Australia an extra week because my event is so late in the program."
Hodgetts, will contest the F20 (athletes with an intellectual disability) shot put on Tuesday, August 31.
Launceston rower Alexandra Viney, 29, is the other Tasmanian at the Paralympics, contesting the PR3 mixed coxed four beginning on Friday, August 27.
