The Craig Hayes-trained seven-year-old sat outside favourite Cool Water Paddy in the $12,000 Launceston Mile before wearing him down to score by just over two metres.
His mile-rate for the 1680m was a personal best 1:55.5 and not far outside Call Me Hector's 1:54.4 track record set last October.
While Cool Water Paddy was zooming to the early lead, driver Gareth Rattray gave Scooterwillrev time to find his feet before working forward to the death at the 1200m.
Rattray started to get busy on Scooterwillrev passing the 400m and Cool Water Paddy still had a length on him as they turned for home.
The $1.95 favourite found plenty in the straight but his more experienced rival proved too strong over the closing stages.
Scooterwillrev's loyal supporters got good value as he started at $2.80 fixed and paid $3.10 on the tote.
RISE 'SIR' LANCELOT
The Rattray family may have bred another potential topliner in Lancelot who was super impressive winning the Rating 40-55.
The three-year-old, out of Beautide's half sister Delmi, worked through from the second row to find the death.
Trainer-driver Todd Rattray let him stroll to the lead at the 400m and he went on to score by 21m.
Lancelot won a Dandy Patch Prelude last season and resumed from a spell with an easy win in the Sires Produce in Hobart on Anzac Day.
He is raced by Denise Rattray in partnership with prominent Devonport owners Brett and Ian Collins and Pete Jones.
The win brought up a hat-trick for Rattray in the first three races.
He led throughout on Magic Joe in the 2YO, thwarting a plunge on first-starter Miss Papenhuyzen, then repeated the dose on odds-on favourite Radiant Red in the second event.
CHIBNALL ON FIRE
Former Victorian reinswoman Jordan Chibnall followed up a career-best three wins in Hobart on Friday night with a good drive on outsider Live For Peace in the Rating 55-59.
Chibnall lobbed one-out, two back from the second row on the $14 chance before moving three wide at the bell.
In a strong staying performance, the Ben Yole-trained gelding edged to the front inside the 100m then held out the fast-finishing placegetters Rockandahardplace and Rowley to score by almost 2m.
Chibnall won three races for Yole in Hobart on Hez The One, Ozzie Major and My Ultimate Romeo.
She drove another good race on $9 chance Deadly Assassin in the Rating 65-79 but Troy Hillier was able to track her into the race on Racketeers Boy and the $2.80 favourite got home by 2m.
The well-backed Be Major Threat ($17 into $9) got up for third, with all three placegetters coming from the rear at the bell.
