Incumbent Labor Bass member Jennifer Houston promised $15,000 in funding to the Motivation Squad Drill Dance Team on Monday.
The funds will go towards venue and equipment hire, she said.
"Group activities like this give kids a sense of belonging and improve overall wellbeing," Ms Houston said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The Motivation Squad Drill Dance Team has been running for two seasons and has about 30 members from around Launceston.
The team practices twice a week on Sunday and Wednesdays and has competed at a national and state level.
This year, the team placed second in state titles, but due to COVID was unable to travel to Queensland for nationals.
"This is an inclusive team and we work hard to ensure that every child that wants to participate can, no matter their circumstances," vice president Tanya Treloar said.
