A man from Waverly has been charged after he allegedly discharged a homemade firearm during an incident at Invermay Road on Friday night.

It is alleged the 30-year-old man arrived at the house of a person he knew about 10.30pm. Beforehand there was an altercation and a homemade firearm was discharged.
Tasmania Police said no one was injured by the discharge, but the person who lived at the property later reported the incident to police.

The two men were known to each other and the Waverley man was arrested at his home on Monday afternoon.
He is due to appear at Launceston Magistrates Court on Monday night, charged with firearm offences and aggravated assault.
Police said the incident was not linked to the other firearm incidents in Launceston over recent days.
