Vehicles stolen from the Launceston Waste Transfer Station overnight were used in a burglary spree spanning the wider region, police believe.
Offenders stole keys to the vehicles from the waste centre in Mowbray in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Inspector Michael Johnston said police were continuing to investigate business burglaries in Mowbray, Kings Meadows, George Town and Evandale, with suspicions they were linked to the waste centre break-in.
He said the vehicles were found burnt out in bushland behind Launceston's northern suburbs on Sunday morning.
"I understand there were some keys stolen to some vehicles, those vehicles were subsequently stolen and used in connection with a series of additional burglaries," Inspector Johnston said.
