The mare almost certainly needs to win to get a wildcard entry into the $5 million race at Moonee Valley a fortnight later.
Trainer Adam Trinder concedes that anything less than a win and she won't be joining Still A Star in the select 15-horse field.
"Realistically, she needs to be winning to warrant running in the All-Star Mile," Trinder said.
"It's going to be a star-studded field this year with the likes of Probabeel and Arcadia Queen in fantastic form.
"She needs to be going there in winning form if we get our opportunity otherwise we'll take a different direction."
Mystic Journey has won only two of her 11 starts since claiming the inaugural All-Star Mile in 2019 but they were quality group 2 races.
Six of her defeats have been at group 1 level.
Although she has been beaten at short odds at two runs in Tasmania since a spell, Trinder goes to Flemington with a degree of confidence.
"She's in really good order and I expect her to run a really forward race," he said.
FIVE CUP RUNNERS ENTERED FOR SA
The field for the $300,000 Adelaide Cup at Morphettville on Monday week could have a familiar ring to it.
The entries include Launceston Cup runners Glass Warrior, White Hawk, Barade, Classic Weiwei and Double You Tee.
However they will have to get up early to beat the likely favourite Tralee Rose who may be the best stayer in Australia at the moment.
The last Tasmanian horse to win the Adelaide Cup was Norsqui in 2013. He had finished fourth in the Launceston Cup at his previous start.
The last horse to complete the double was Zavite in 2009.
Launceston Cup runner-up Sh'bourne Renegade may have his next start over 2500m at Moonee Valley, the same day stablemate Still A Star contests the All-Star Mile.
WILLIE COMES SOUTH IN SEARCH OF CUP
Victorian harness trainer Dean Braun is no stranger to raiding Tasmanian feature races and he has his sights on another.
He has former Kiwi gelding Willie Go West in the opening heat of the $75,000 Tasmania Cup in Hobart on Sunday night with Chris Alford to drive.
The same combination won the race in 2010 with Our Chain Of Command when it was a mobile start (and worth $100,000).
Although a 72-rater taking on higher-assessed rivals, Willie Go West won a heat of the 3YO Breeders Crown in November, leading all the way, and was a good third from a wide draw in his semi-final.
He's drawn the pole for his first start in a stand, which is always a query, but the Braun-Alford factor will ensure he's very prominent in the betting.
The Shallows, Lip Reader, Izaha, Star Chamber and Call Me Hector are among his rivals in a classy lineup.
The second Tasmania Cup heat will be run on Sunday week.
PRINCE CHANCE AT COMBINED MEETING
Ben Yole trained five winners at Devonport last week and should have another successful meeting on Friday night, with more than 30 runners.
But one race he won't be winning is the Trainers Encouragement Pace - restricted to trainers who had 10 or less winners last season.
However the Yole name may still be to the fore.
His father Wayne will be represented by Brighton Prince who is a 55-rater and gets into the Rating 40-54 race with a claim for driver Samantha Gangell.
The former Queensland pacer will come out of barrier 3 which is his best draw since he won at the same track in mid-January.
Since coming to Tasmania, he has not missed a place in the five races where he's drawn the front row and he's won two of them.
The meeting is a combined harness/greyhound program with all 15 races listed for Sky 2.
The first race is at 3.39pm and there will be five greyhound events before the harness program kicks in.
Devonport will also host its usual greyhound meeting next Tuesday afternoon with two outstanding heats of the Reg & Aileen Ivory Memorial Classic.
Launceston Cup finalists Wynburn Sheean, Sprint Gordon, Highland Wonder and Siberia clash in heat 1 with two more finalists, Quick Joey Small and Fabulous Baroque, in heat 2.
