The future of Tasmania's top-flight women's football competition is in doubt following news that North Launceston will not field a side in 2021.
Head of AFL Tasmania Damian Gill and the side's coach Dean Smith confirmed the news of North Launceston's departure with Gill saying the club indicated its unlikeliness.
"Our focus for football in Tasmania is ensuring that our leagues, clubs, players, umpires and volunteers are all in a position to be able to play, run and grow the game in the best possible way for the future," an AFL Tasmania spokesperson said.

"We need to ensure our competition structures are viable and are supporting participation growth across the state.
"We are working with all TSLW teams on the structure of the competition moving forward and we are committed to working with each club on their individual scenario and exploring all possible options available to them."
The Bombers joined the statewide competition in 2019 under the tutelage of Smith and captain Jodie Clifford - who retired at the end of this season - and were eliminated in the first week of both finals campaigns.
North Launceston president Thane Brady was unavailable for comment.
