Garry 'Bull' Baker, Brent Crosswell and Maverick 'Mav' Weller all graced the venue with their footballing know-how.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Baker said it was great to be at the luncheon and to entertain patrons with the three players' insight.
In particular, the former Bulldog, Demon and Swan said it was great to share the stage with his mate in Crosswell.
"Forty years later, after I played my last game to come up here and still be invited to these things ... it gives you a little spring in your step just to be asked to come up to this luncheon," Baker said.
The famously quiet yet charismatic Crosswell said Baker roped him in to the luncheon, but he was nonetheless happy to be at the event.
"Baker brought me down here and said 'sit on the couch and they'll ask you a few questions'," the Tassie Hall of Famer said.
"I don't do this type of thing very much ... it's just nice to come down to Launceston and for this club in particular."
South Launceston club president Wayne Mitchell said the luncheon has been running for 17 years.
He said while the club opted out of this season, it was still important to carry on with the grand final tradition.
"The support's been great and that's what football clubs and the community's all about," Mitchell said.
"We all stick together in hard times and push through and we'll come out the other end better as a community and club."
I texted about a dozen of them just to say go and have fun.
- Maverick Weller
One year out from the AFL, Weller said it was nice to be back among clubs in Tasmania.
He did a ring-around to the Tigers on Friday morning to wish his former teammates good luck.
"I texted about a dozen of them just to say go and have fun ... which is what their program's based on ...just wished them all the best and I look forward to watching it," Weller said.
"I suppose a good thing to come out of 2020 was probably not being stuck in a hub ... I suppose it was a bit of a blessing but I think it's been a tough year for everybody."
The picks:
Mitchell: I think Richmond are the form side but it'd be nice to see Gary Ablett go out on a high note.
Baker: I reckon it's going to be a great game, I'm tipping Geelong to win by two goals.
Crosswell: I never used to like Richmond but I'm going for Richmond myself.
Weller: Tigers will get it done, Geelong were pretty special last week which scares me a bit because me and one of the guys from Burnie have a little bet going.
