Sunday's deluge never came, but New Town still dampened the Greater Northern Raiders' season openers, winning both games in the double-header.

A promising start by the home side at Windsor Park was swiftly extinguished by efficient New Town Bucks bowling in the first match.
Former Riverside batter wicket-keeper Emma Manix-Geeves made a strong debut in her first season with Raiders, scoring 33 runs.
Running mate Kate Chaplin also tallied 33 runs, with the pair accounting for the majority of the Raiders' score.
Coach Darren Simmonds said the duo's performance gave the team solid groundwork.
"We lost our way a little bit there towards the back end of the innings ... after the start we had there we should've got a few more," he said.
Then New Town turned up the heat, running out Meg Radford, Sascha Lowry and Alice McLauchlan for a combined score of three runs.
The Raiders had little luck on the other side of the pitch, with New Town's Rachel Priest and Meg Phillips scoring 36 and 48 respectively.
New Town won the game by nine wickets, finishing on 1-95.
"We were just far too short on both sides of the wicket ... that's probably a focus for us in the next game," Simmonds said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
In game two, the Bucks' bowling proved to be equally lethal, if not more so than in the first game.
Manix-Geeves was bowled for a golden duck by New Town's Bonnie Davies.
But a fine first innings by captain Caitlyn Webster and Montana Bradley provided hope for the team - as the pair finished with 20 and 29 runs respectively.
Simmonds said ultimately is was great to play two full games of cricket given Sunday's forecast inclement weather.
"Monty (Bradley) batted well, as did Caitlin. But we never really got going," he said.
"We set ourselves to get at least 100 in these games and we fell a little short - we probably just soaked a few too many dot balls."
Simmonds said bowler Rhianne Hack gave the Raiders a strong start to the second half of the match.
"We wanted to be a bit fuller in that innings and I think we started that way and Hacky showed that by getting the ball fuller, it allows for opportunities," he said.
New Town's batting got comfortable in the latter portion of the game, with Emily Mifsud finishing 44 not out.
The Bucks won by the same margin, finishing with 1-90.
"The positives we can take out of this weekend are that we got some game time in and we'll be better for that," Simmonds said.
The Raiders will head south next round for weekend matches against North Hobart and Clarence.
