Free fun meets are planned for the main Launceston and Hobart pools.
It will be a light-hearted return to racing after COVID-19 led to a closure of public swimming pools and regular competitions.
Those who are new to competitive swimming can enter after signing up for a free four-week membership with Swimming Tasmania, according to event administrator Tanya Cowen.
"We knew that clubs and some individual swimmers were feeling anxious about getting back in the water after a long time away," she said. "So this is a fun event before we start our time trials.

"The event is aimed at our Swim Tas members from all the clubs and also first-timers who would like to try out competition swimming. It's fun, it's free and there will be lots of giveaways."
More than 100 are expected at the Launceston event. The program includes freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke and backstroke events over 25m events and 50m. There is also a 75m freestyle, a 100m individual medley and mixed relays.
Warm-up is at 3pm and events start at 3.15pm at both Hobart and Launceston. Entries close Monday, August 10, at 11.59pm. Go to the Swimming Tasmania website for details and to enter.
GET SET
Swimming Tasmania time trials are set to resume on August 29 in Launceston and then on September 5 in Hobart.
Also coming up is the Launceston Aquatic Club's medley pentathlon on Sunday, September 13.
MAKE WAVES
The Bridport Brave Winter Swim is a new all-ages event, and while organisers acknowledge taking inspiration from Dark Mofo's solstice swim, they say that and it is definitely not a nude event.
So grab your bikinis, boardies or budgies and head for Goftons Beach on Sunday, August 23, as the sun rises at 6.48am. The event is free and is part of the Tassie Scallop Fiesta with Bridport Surf Life Saving Club providing water safety.
GO THE DISTANCE
Swimming Tasmania has congratulated Sue Guesdon, Chris Guesdon and Richard Campion on their induction into the inaugural Australian Marathons Swimming Hall of Fame.
This was "a great effort by our local Tasmanian inductees" according to Swim Tas.
ON COURSE
Swim Australia Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety courses are being held in Tasmania.
They will run in Launceston on August 16 and Hobart on August 23, according to Swimming Tasmania.
