Tasmania Police has thanked people who have come forward with information about a GoPro that was stolen from a fatal crash scene in Launceston on Sunday.

Sergeant Terry Reaney said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the single-motorcycle crash on the corner of Paterson and Wellington streets, which claimed the life of a 28-year-old Kings Meadow man, was ongoing.
The motorcycle was travelling south on Wellington Street when it hit a Suzuki Hatch, which was travelling east on Paterson Street.
Sergeant Reaney said the GoPro footage posted on social media without the family's permission was causing them unnecessary stress.

"Not only is the footage crucial evidence in relation to the coronial investigation into the man's death, but it's creating further distress to the deceased man's family at what is an already difficult time," he said.
