Councillor Andrew Calvert suggested joining the project by painting a large, dead tree, adjacent to the new highway between Perth and Longford, blue.
The council deferred the estimated $10,500 matter at its June meeting pending the receipt of further proposals relating to mental health initiatives.

About 524 trees are registered with the Blue Tree Project in Australia and internationally, which aims to help spark conversations around mental health by spreading the paint and the message 'it's okay to not be okay'.
Two trees in Tasmania, one in Penguin and one in Rossarden, are a part of the project.
The proposed tree is located on State Growth land. The project was discussed with the Department of State Growth and it was supportive of the initiative.
