A momentary shift towards imports is needed for the long-term success of Tasmanian cricket, says former WBBL captain Sasha Moloney.

Tasmanian players fill just five of the 15 spots on the Tigers' list following the announcement of the 2020-21 squad earlier this month.
Northern stars Courtney Webb and Emma Manix-Geeves have taken up offers to play in other states this season, Katelyn Fryett has retired and talented Hobart opener Erin Fazackerley agreed to take a year off despite impressing in the WBBL.
Teenage pair Amy Smith and Chloe Abel are the two new Tasmanian players to earn a contract, joining the experienced Northern trio of Brooke Hepburn, Meg Phillips and Moloney.

"Obviously we want to be creating a program that has Tassie girls in the environment, but at the moment we're not quite there with the talent that's coming through," Moloney said.
"So we understand that until we get to that point - until our academy pathway develops to the point that we can have local players - we need to get interstate players coming in.
"We're fortunate enough that over the last couple of years we've had some really good girls that have come in and really bought into the program and what we're trying to create so I have no doubt that the girls that are coming this year will be the same."
The Tasmanian program has moved to become more professional in recent years, making the sport a more viable career but also increasing demands on players.
The changes are believed to be a factor in Fazackerley and Stef Daffara taking the year off to consider their future in the sport. Moloney admitted the change in approach had been difficult for some players.
ELSEWHERE IN SPORT
"We know that Erin needed some time away from cricket and at the end of the day people comes first - the person comes first," the 27-year-old said.
"If she wants to come back and play and was willing to come back and give that a go again there'll be open arms for her to come back in, but at the moment we know that that's what was best for her.
"So as disappointing as it was, we need to put the person first and that's what Cricket Tas has tried to do.
"When I started this was just almost like a hobby, so to see how it's changed and how quickly it's progressed - I guess some players may not adjust to that as well as others.
"So like we said, we need to support her where we can and support other players coming into this environment to make sure it's not just all about cricket - we're still developing as people and developing interests outside of cricket as well."
