Launceston cyclist Catelyn Turner has picked up bronze with an impressive ride at the national road championships in Ballarat.

Competing against a dozen other gun under-19 riders in an 18.8km time trial, Turner completed the course in 29:21.06 to finish 53 seconds behind Victorian winner Alyssa Polites (28:27.63).
Gold Coast's defending champion Francesca Sewell, who took victory ahead of Turner in last year's national road race, split the pair for second spot with a time of 28:50.70.
ELSEWHERE IN SPORT
Burnie's Dalton Stretton was the state's sole representative in the men's under-19 time trial, recording 27:32.70 to finish 21st in a field of 44, three minutes behind Bendigo-based winner Patrick Eddy.
Devonport's Patty Best took home silver in the men's C4 while Launceston's Nicole Frain was scheduled to compete in the elite women's time trial on Wednesday evening.
The championships run until Sunday.
