A Newnham man has appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court for allegedly wounding a youth.

Jordan Lawrie, 18, did not enter a plea on Friday.
Tasmania Police allege Mr Lawrie is responsible for an incident that resulted in a 17-year-old youth being stabbed at a Newnham property.
The incident occurred on Thursday evening at a private residence.

The youth received deep lacerations to his face and arm.
He was taken to the Launceston General Hospital where he remains. He is receiving treatment for his injuries, which are not considered life threatening.
Police said it was an isolated incident, with the pair known to each other.
Mr Lawrie was remanded in custody. He will appear via video link on January 10 at 9.15am.
