Tasmania Police reported a slight increase in family violence incidents and an increase in assaults against women over 2018-19.

In its annual report released on Wednesday, police recorded 3579 family violence incidents and 2377 reports of family arguments or incidents which did not involve violence.
Statistics showed there had been a rise of 424 family violence reports compared to two years ago.
Police said it made 2516 notifications to schools regarding 3574 students affected by family violence in 2018-19.
The annual report stated there was 13-per-cent decrease in assaults against children, from 372 in 2017-18 to 325 in 2018-19.
It noted a 18-per-cent decrease in sexual assaults against children, from 87 in 2017-18 to 71 in 2018-19.
The report recorded 1457 assaults against women and 109 sexual assaults against women over the past financial year.
A breakdown of serious crime offences showed 37 per cent related to serious assaults, 21 per cent to serious sexual assaults, 19 per cent to robberies, and 10 per cent to arson attacks.
There were 351 serious drug offenders charged over 2018-19.
Sixty per cent of those charges related to cannabis, 37 per cent to methamphetamine, and 11 per cent to ecstasy.
Police detected 41,375 people speeding on Tasmanian roads over the past financial year and 6182 detections were made by speed cameras.
Police conducted 438,322 random breath tests and nabbed 1905 drivers who were over the prescribed alcohol limit.
Tests and those detected for exceeding the blood-alcohol limit were lower than last year.
Police conducted 4518 targeted drug tests on drivers and detected 2430 people either under the influence of an illicit drug or who had an illicit drug present in their blood.
A total of 27,842 offences were recorded by police in 2018-19 which was above the three-year average.
A total of 574 serious crime offences were recorded over that time, also above the three-year average.
