TFS Station Officer Anthony Goss said the group would mainly be focussed around the Lamington State Park region, southwest of the Gold Coast.
"There's six of us going from Tasmania with another six members from Western Australia who will form a team to go into the reserve and assess the fire damage to mainly the vegetation and assess how we approach that and make that area safer," he said.
In other news:
Along with risk assessment, the team will be partaking in firefighting and suppressing activities alongside local fire crews, giving those that have been battling blazes a well-deserved rest.
All 12 firefighters have advanced tree felling qualifications which may need to be used while assessing areas damaged by fires.
"If it comes to it, we'll have to conduct tree felling exercises. We're highly qualified in that area but our primary role in that space is to assess the need," Station Officer Goss said.
Claude Road Fire Brigade Chief and volunteer Callum Woodham said it was nice to be able to help fellow firefighters out in Queensland.
"Last year we had a lot of blokes come over from the mainland and other countries to help us so it's nice to be able to put back in," Brigade Chief Woodham said.
"It's always good to help out and better you get someone who knows what they're doing [tree felling] and do it safely rather than put someone at risk."
